Writer-Director

Ebele Tate is an award-winning British-Nigerian writer-director whose work explores identity, class, race and culture through intimate, visually distinct, genre-bending storytelling. Rooted in emotional truth and shaped by a strong authorial sensibility, her films sit at the intersection of the personal and the political.

A Channel 4 scholarship recipient and alumna of the National Film and Television School and NYU Tisch, she is currently developing her debut feature, The Visit, with support from the BFI Early Development Fund. The feature expands on her NFTS graduation short of the same name, which won Best Student Film at HollyShorts in Los Angeles. She was also selected for HBO’s House of the Dragon Director’s Shadowing Programme S2.

THE VISIT

In this coming-of-age magical-realism drama, a young woman journeys across cities and decades to confront the mother who abandoned her, only to discover that healing doesn't come from being claimed, but from reclaiming herself.
